World Literature

Emphasizes an understanding and appreciation of world literature. Materials covered include Western and non-Western literary endeavors. The focus is on similarities and unique characteristics among the various world literatures, analysis of literary genre, and appreciation of voice. Covers mythology, poetry, novels, short stories, and essays.

Twentieth-Century Literature

A comprehensive survey course that explores and analyzes select themes in modern literature by comparing and contrasting approaches from Western and non-Western novels, poetry, short stories, and essays. Major literary figures will be covered as well as connections between literature and culture.
